#10 - The Princess (Season 4)

Yes The Princess is pretty amazing, so it was unfortunate that she went home after only a few episodes. I love the fact that Princess stays true to herself and her ascetic, including her ability to rock the bald look. Not to mention, she is hot out of drag. Um… yes, please!

#9 - Tammie Brown (Season 1)

“See you later, in the magazines. Wah wah wah wah.” - Tammie Brown after being eliminated from RuPaul’s Drag Race

Although this queen only lasted two episodes, her quirkiness and unusual style caught my attention. Tammie Brown is nothing short of unique; she’s from another planet, and that makes her all that much more fabulous.

#8 - Nina Flowers (Season 1)

Season 1 runner up, Nina Flowers brought something new to the competition each week. Nina is a true performer and her character transformation through makeup can be matched by none.

#7 - Ongina (Season 1)

Was anyone else almost in tears when Ongina broke down after winning the MAC cosmetic Viva Glam challenge, and admitted that she was HIV positive? I thought Ongina would be one of the finalists standing at the end (unfortunately, I was wrong); she is a strong, stylish and skilled queen. Girl, you better werq!

#6 - Chad Michaels (Season 4)

“If perfection is the worst thing people can call me, then call it.” -Chad Michaels

How can you not love a queen that wears giraffe suit, does a flawless Cher impersonation, and has plans to fit the capital with an “up do”? Okay, seriously though, Chad Michaels is awesome. She is a seasoned professional who brought wisdom and grace to season 4.

#5 - Latrice Royale (Season 4)

“Jesus is a biscuit, let him sop you up.” -Latrice Royale

Chunky yet funky. Large and in charge. Latrice Royale was the first queen to truly represent for the big girls. Latrice is professional, put together, and she can lip sync the hell out of a song.

#4 - Raven (Season 2)

I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of Raven at first. With her hard edge and propensity to say exactly what was on her mind, she was the bitch I loved to hate. And when I say bitch, I mean it in a good way. Raven was in total control of herself. By the end of the show, I had seen her vulnerability and she’d grown on me enough that I was rooting for her to take the crown. Raven is fierce and stylish with just enough attitude, which is why she is number 4 on my list.

#3 - Willam (Season 4)

Willam knows how to werq the spotlight. After all, everyone is still asking, “What did Willam do?” Her elimination was shocking to say the least. Before she got kicked off the show, Willam was one of the favorites to take the crown, and also the bitch of season 4 (okay, the other bitch besides Phi Phi). With charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, Willam is always true to her character - ditsy, hilarious and full of sass.

#2 - Pandora Boxx (Season 2)

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ladies if he sparkles in the daylight and won’t fuck you, he might be gay and not a vampire.” - Pandora Boxx

Pandora Boxx stole the show, or at least she stole the after show with her weekly ru-cap of Drag Race. Funny, beautiful and campy, Pandora Boxx is easy to love.

#10 - Everyone keeps asking for a dislike button that isn’t going to happen.Ask and you shall receive, but Facebook members have been asking for a dislike button for years and it hasn’t happened yet. If a new social network came out with a dislike button, I’m sure they would have a million members within days, but it isn’t going to happen on Facebook. Lets move on.

# 9 - Instant messages via Facebook. I don’t want to IM my friends on Facebook; stop telling me that I do! I don’t want a million chat requests from people I don’t want to talk to every time I log into Facebook. If I wanted to talk to my friends, I would post on their walls or send them a message via AIM.

# 8 - Never ending game invites. A new game pops up everyday and inevitably someone is going to invite me to play, and then invite me to play again and again until they finally get sick of the game 2 weeks later. If I already play the game, I will accept the request, otherwise I won’t. And sending me more requests isn’t going to get me to start playing the game.

# 7 - Public Event invites. It’s always great to be invited to a fun event your friend is putting on (not the random events all the way across the country from people you haven’t talked to since elementary school), but if you invite me via Facebook, I’m probably going to forget all about the event when it rolls around. It’s a little less fun to log into Facebook and find out that my friend is throwing a party or having a night out on the town and all our mutual friends are attending, but I wasn’t invited and I’m left to wonder technological mistake or does s/he really not like me?

# 6 - Friend requests from people I don’t know and don’t have any friends in common with. Random people, to whom I have no connection at all can send me a million of friend requests, but Facebook warns me to make sure I really know the person I am friend requesting because if I send too many unwanted requests they will block my friending privileges. But random people can request me all they want? Seriously?! Also deleting unwanted friend requests is now two step process. You have to ignore the request before you have the option to delete it.

# 5 - Worthless notifications. We all get excited when the little red bubble pops up to inform us of a new wall post or photo comment, but it’s a big disappointment when you find out the 5 notifications are because your old college roommate wants to compare quiz results or your former co-worker answered a question about you on some random application that has no plans on telling you what he said anyway.

# 4 -Pokes. It was only fun for the first 5 minutes. I think we’re all wondering what the point is now.

# 3 -Annoying Status Updates. I think we all agree on this one and there are plenty of articles about this on the internet (see links below), so I won’t say anything else other than I don’t care what your kid did, where you’re going or if you are picking your nose.

Top Ten Surprising "Not Guilty" Verdicts

#10 - Snoop Dog

Mentioned in his song “Murder Was The Case,” rapper Snoop Dogg was charged in connection with the 1993 murder of Phillip Woldermarian. The rival gang member was allegedly shot and killed by Snoop’s bodyguard McKinley Lee while Snoop drove the car. Much from the help of fellow OJ Simpson defender Johnnie Cochran, Snoop Dogg was acquitted of the murder under claims of self defense. Unlike Simpson, Snoop Dogg’s professional career didn’t suffer from the case as he went on to become one of the most well known rappers of all time.

# 9 - Robert Blake

In 2005 the American actor was tried and acquitted for the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley. She was shot in the head, following dinner at a restaurant with Blake.

He proclaimed his innocence, but when two stuntmen, Ronald ‘Duffy’ Hambleton and Gary McLarty testified against him, claiming Blake tried to hire them to kill his wife, further doubt was cast upon his story. He surprisingly walked free but on November 18th 2005 he was found liable for her wrongful death after Bakley’s three children filed a civil suit against him. He was ordered to pay $30 million.

# 8 - William Kennedy Smith

Doctor, activist and member of the Kennedy family, William Kennedy Smith was accused of rape in a highly publicized trial in 1991. After drinking with Senator Ted Kennedy at a Florida bar, the accuser stated that she went home with Smith and was raped. Smith claimed the act was consensual, a position that the jury agreed with when they acquitted him of the rape charges. His history however followed him as Smith was later named in two separate civil suits claiming sexual assault.

# 7 -Lorena Bobbitt

Lorena Bobbitt was charged with malicious wounding after chopping off the penis of her husband, John Wayne Bobbitt, and throwing it out of a car window on a Virginia highway. Lorena argued at her trial that John Wayne had emotionally, physically and sexually abused her during their marriage, including raping her on the night of the incident in 1993. Though she was later found guilty of a separate assault, Lorena was acquitted of the amputation by reason of insanity. As for John Wayne, his penis was later found and reattached, allowing him to star in adult films.

# 6 - The Los Angeles Police Department

Bringing the term “police brutality” into our vocabulary, four members of the Los Angeles Police Department were charged with using excessive force back in March 1991. Following a high-speed chase, Rodney King, the African-American driver, was beaten excessively by the Los Angeles officers all while a bystander videotaped the incident. Each of the officers were acquitted of charges in a 1992 trial, leading to rioting and looting in Los Angeles for over three days in disgust of the verdict.

# 5 -R. Kelly

The rapper was facing 15-years in jail on child pornography but managed to walk completely free. He was accused of videotaping himself having sex with an under-age girl, his goddaughter. The tape was then sent to the Chicago Sun-Times who handed it over to the police.

Kelly insisted it was not him in the footage. The jury found him not guilty but some jurors later spoke to the press and admitted while they thought it was him, they were unsure as to the girl’s identity and were therefore unable to prove he was having sex with an underage girl.

# 4 -John Hinckley Jr.

The verdict of ‘not guilty’ by reason of insanity in the 1982 trial of John Hinckley Jr. for his attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan resulted in widespread dismay. Hinckley was obsessed with Jodie Foster and on March 30, 1981 he shot Reagan six times as he left a hotel in Washington, D.C in an effort to impress her.

He injured three other people and was charged with 13 offenses but dodged prison because of the controversial plea. He was institutionalized at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and remains there to this day.

# 3 - Casey Anthony

Described as “OJ number two,” the trial of Casey Anthony shocked and divided the United States when the Florida single mother was acquitted of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony in July 2011. Casey Anthony failed to report the child missing, lied to investigators and was seemingly unbothered during the months the child was missing. Despite evidence that Anthony’s trunk contained human decomposition and the fact that Anthony’s guilt had already been decided by the media, Anthony was found not guilty for the murder, only convicted of providing false information to law enforcement officers.

# 2 - Michael Jackson

Beginning in May 2002, Jackson allowed a documentary film crew, led by British TV personality Martin Bashir, to follow him around just about everywhere he went. Bashir’s film crew was with Jackson during the “baby-dangling incident” in Berlin. The program was broadcast in March 2003 as Living with Michael Jackson, and painted an extraordinarily unflattering portrait of the singer.

In a particularly controversial scene, Jackson was seen holding hands and discussing sleeping arrangements with a young boy.As soon as the documentary aired, the Santa Barbara county attorney’s office began a criminal investigation. Jackson was arrested in November 2003, and was charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent in relation to the 13 year old boy shown in the film.Jackson denied the allegations, saying the sleepovers were not sexual in nature. The People v. Jackson trial began on January 31, 2005, in Santa Maria, California, and lasted five months, until the end of May. On June 13, 2005, Jackson was acquitted on all counts. After the trial, in a highly publicized relocation he moved to the Persian Gulf island of Bahrain, as a guest of Sheikh Abdullah.

Accused of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, former National Football League player OJ Simpson was acquitted of murder in the “Trial of the Century” in 1995. Simpson was widely believed to be guilty, especially after leading police on a low-speed chase in his white Ford Bronco, but his dream team of attorneys convinced the jury that the evidence to convict the athlete and actor was insufficient. In 1997, Simpson was found financially liable for the deaths in a civil trial. 10 years later, Simpson released a controversial and allegedly hypothetical book titled “If I Did It.”

#10 - Dollhouse - Season 2

I debated whether or not to include Dollhouse, as to say that it’s the weakest Whedon show would be an incredible understatement. That said, the quality of the nine ‘post cancellation’ episodes puts it on the list. When the show stops running as story of the week, it’s awesome and exciting and just fun to watch.

Best episode: Epitaph 2
Worst episode: Instinct

#9 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 7

Season seven should have been better, but it’s still fantastic. While the makers of the show didn’t get the impressive people to come back and play the First that they wanted (though Sarah Michelle Geller did a fine job, it just doesn’t work like it could have), and they seemed to miss a great chance at making the Ubervamps terrifying (as seen in ‘BOTN’ and ‘Showtime’), the season does a lot of things right. The early going is very good, and the house full of potentials works surprisingly well, but the final five episodes really sees the show take off again. Nathan Fillion is incredible and Caleb could be a strong season long villain on his own. Couple that with Faith and the exciting run to the finish, and the it’s wonderful. ( Now, if only they didn’t go out of their way to show that Buffy was right in ‘Empty Places’ when she is CLEARLY wrong and the other people are clearly right.)

#8 - Angel - Season 3

This is the point when Angel really, really got good. Actually, that may have been Pylea, but still. :p With season three came letterbox, focus, and a newfound willingness to take risks (no, Angel going ‘dark’ yet always saving the day for just a few weeks doesn’t count as risk-taking), and it’s wonderful. From the early stages, to Darla’s return, to the awesome Loyalty story, to the horrible (and I mean that in a good way) end, Season three is outstanding.

Worst episode: Carpe Noctem

# 7 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 4

The show was as strong as ever moving to college, as season four of BtVS provides a textbook example of how to transition a show to from high school to college. The first half of the season is absolutely insane, quality-wise, and Season four Spike is at the top of his game. The season would place higher if not for a few issues in the second half, namely revolving around Adam and around the Initiative not being used as well.

Best episode: Hush
Worst episode: Superstar

#6 - Angel - Season 4

I feel like it’s underrated. Look, I know that it’s disjointed and running as a turgid supernatural soap-opera during season four, but I don’t care. Season four of Angel is awesome. There are some great moments, and as silly as the end of days stuff might be at times (the Sun’s been blotted out in all of Los Angeles and vampires reign on the town, yet nobody seems to care? For that matter, the rest of the country, and world for that matter, didn’t notice LA fell to a Browncoat god who wants to serve man?), it’s all good because it’s exciting and the cast of characters is just so strong. This style of show really seemed to fit Angel, imo.

Best episode: Apocalypse Nowish/Reign of Fire
Worst episode: Soulless (and I’m briefly explaining this one since I know it’s well liked. I hate this premise and find it to be very, very boring. Also, in later episodes when he’s ‘Angelus’, and I despise that term I might add, I’m annoyed at how he’s not shown killing anybody, only terrorizing or killing fellow demons. WTF?)

#5 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 2

While the season is stellar from beginning to end, the season’s second half turns a great season into something more. Season two, like passion, is the source of our finest moments (or at least moment, very late in the season finale) of the series, imo.

Worst episode: Bad Eggs

# 4 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 5

I have to place season five here. It’s absolutely fantastic in, like, every way. The Dawn plot shouldn’t work, but instead is great (at least after the first few episodes, when the seemed to find the character) and Glory makes for a great villain that is both funny and extremely intimidating. This season also boasts a couple of the absolute best episodes of, well, any show ever made.

#3 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 3

This is BtVS at the top of its game. From Faith and the Mayor to a wish and postponed episodes, no season of the show boasts such a consistent level of quality and such a great feel. Season three is where it’s at.

Worst episode: Dead Man’s Party

#2 - Angel - Season 5

For a show that improved literally every season, the jump in quality to its final season is still amazing. The Wolfram & Hart setting works great and the characters and actors are at amazing points. And there’s Illyria. Who wouldn’t love Illyria?

Worst episode: Soul Purpose

For one shining half season, this may have been the greatest show ever made. Its blend of, well, everything and its vision of this universe are amazing. Oh, and what a perfect cast of characters, too boot. And Serenity is the most incredible home setting.

Lisa wants to practice her saxophone because she is auditioning for first chair in the school band. A new student named Allison enters her class. Allison was skipped ahead a grade by Principal Skinner. Lisa is really jealous of her and is horrified to learn that Allison is going for first chair saxophone, too. Meanwhile, Homer and Bart find an overturned truck full of sugar. Homer fills up his car with it. Lisa loses her quest for first chair and Allison becomes the new smart girl at school, making Lisa feel terrible. Bart helps her think of a way to beat Allison at an upcoming diorama contest.

The Simpson family goes to “Blockoland”. When Lisa gets ripped off, Homer sticks up for her and is successful. He vows to start helping the little guy. He helps Bart get a girlfriend and helps Marge get her hair streaked. He even tries to help Lenny get a refund from the Springfield Isotopes’ owner, H.K. Duff VIII. In doing so, he discovers that the owner is moving the baseball team to Albuquerque. He tries to tell the media about it, but they don’t believe him. He vows to go on a hunger strike to call attention to the situation.

# 5 - Slim to None: A Journey Through The Wasteland of Anorexia Treatment by Jennifer Hendrix

#4 - Lying by Lauren Slater

Slater, author of Prozac Diary (1998), marshals her literary virtuosity and dual perspective as a psychologist who has suffered mental disorders in this highly provocative inquiry into the nature of epilepsy. She describes her own epileptic seizures with poetic intensity, then declares that “some epileptics are liars,” and, indeed, many episodes feel more dramatized than documented. She lyrically recounts her spiritual awakening at a special school for epileptics run by nuns only to slyly observe that epileptics often harbor religious fixations. Slater then suggests that she actually had Munchausen syndrome, which induces sufferers to feign illnesses. Did she have an operation to separate the hemispheres of her brain, or is that a metaphor for her divided sense of self? Each anecdote is as enrapturing and disorienting as the auras, or “strange states,” she experiences just before her seizures, and all are inspired by the same overarching question: Why is what we feel less true than what is? Slater’s uncanny narrative subtly reveals the meshing of the factual with the emotional and the real with the imagined.

# 3 - Becoming Anna by Anna J. Michener

Institutionalized at 15 by her abusive parents, the author, then known as “Tiffany,” was abused for several months by the staff of mental hospitals. Her state-sanctioned treatment consisted of overmedication, physical and emotional intimidation, illegal incarceration and painful criticism from teachers and psychiatric counselors. At the end of that year, when she was surrendered by her mother and taken in by foster parents, Tiffany became Anna. Were this a novel, sympathy for the overwriting, self-sanctifying, pathetic narrator would run awfully thin. Other, tougher kids called her “Crazy Girl,” she recalls, “In a world that had never been anything but oppressive and cruel to any of us, they thought it was crazy for me to still have some innocence, some passion, some caring for other people, and some hope for a better world. They called me crazy with affection. They wanted me to stay that way.” Michener might convince readers that she is not crazy, but it’s hard to accept her rosy perception of herself and the demonization of nearly every authority?and parental?figure. Her vague and predictable descriptions of the mental institutions reveal less than a few minutes with One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest: the “clients” are generally good, misunderstood; the staff, for the most part, are bad, bitter, soulless sadists. When Michener describes her preinstitutional diaries as “a rather disorganized mix of fact and fiction, and hardly anything was finished before the next page was talking about something new,” she could almost be summing up the autobiography. Professional psychologists get paid to listen to desperately anxious remembrances and imaginings, but readers don’t.

# 10 - Mind Over Murder (Season 1, Episode 4)

At Chris’ soccer game, Peter gets into a fight with a woman, that he thought was a man, and punches her in the face. After being placed under house arrest, Peter becomes restless and ends up turning the basement into a full bar. Lois begins singing each night and becomes the main attraction. Meanwhile, Stewie creates a time machine in order to avoid teething pain, but ends up taking back much more than that.

Stewie starts taunting Chris by eating everything in sight, and starts packing on the baby fat. Even though Chris isn’t up for surgery, Peter decides to go for it. The new, svelte Peter has Lois all hot and bothered. Peter loves the results of his lipo and decides to have some work done on his face. The new, handsome Peter starts getting all sorts of special treatment: at the gym, at the grocery store, even from total strangers. Lois doesn’t like the new Peter’s attitude, especially when he joins “The Beautiful People’s Club.” Karma catches up to Peter while he’s on his way to the club. Unable to take his eyes off himself, Peter plunges his car over a cliff. The nasty fall - and subsequent crash-landing into a large vat of lard - leaves him horribly disfigured (ie: back to normal).
